Visit Louisbourg's historic lighthouse
Make North Star* the point from which you navigate beautiful Cape Breton, ranked as North America’s Number One Island by readers of Conde Naste Traveller Magazine, and Number One Island in Canada by readers of Travel + Leisure.
From rich green forests, craggy cliffs and raging seas, to an historic fortress, twisting ocean trails and fascinating wildlife, a veritable world of adventure awaits!
Just a short drive from North Star* lies The Fortress of Louisbourg, a National Parks Canada historic site, and partial reconstruction of an 18th-century battlement, easily one of Canada’s most ‘instagramable’ attractions.
Surrounded by Cape Breton’s rocky shoreline, the Fortress immerses guests into French colonial life via looming fortifications, fascinating kitchen gardens and reconstructed heritage homes.
Whilst wandering the site, learn of the many cultures that shape Canada, through music, dance, language, craft and culinary traditions. For further information and ticket enquiries, browse this Parks Canada link.
